Overlay Analysis System
Background and Objectives
The client is a full service organization specializing in geographic information systems - development,
cadastral / parcel mapping, aerial photography and Photogrammetry. The client has a tradition of providing comprehensive mapping
solutions to the local government and private-sector.
The project involved the development of an application to calculate the acreage of land area resulting from the overlay process of
polygon layers over a section. The objective was to generate a final shapefile of overlaid layers with attached attribute data
containing acreage of linear debasement with respect to land use, soil type, and parcels to assist in tax calculation
Key Aspects of the Project
- Enables calculation of land use area resulting from the 'overlay process' of polygon layers over a section.
- Provides users with the facility to process the overlay operation either with respect to area or section
